Biomedical research has dominated science during the first two decades of the 21st century and is expected to continue doing so in the future. The aim of this new series, coordinated by José M Mato, a trustee of the Health Sciences Foundation, is to converse with scientists whose work spans the broad field of biomedical research—chemists, biologists, doctors, mathematicians, and physicists who are part of the new generation of scientific leaders.
